Studio Information
Please make arrangements to observe at least one lesson (and one group class if possible) before making the commitment of starting lessons.
One parent attends the piano lessons. At each lesson, a “main point” will be emphasized. The parent’s responsibility is to make sure the main point is understood before leaving the lesson, making necessary notes for follow-through during the home practice.
In addition to practicing at home, it is important to play the recording of the Book 1 songs to be learned (24 hours every day) to provide a wonderful piano environment. It is also recommended to play at least 2 CD’s beyond the book they are currently studying as often as possible.
It is my desire that you will find this experience to be as rewarding for you and your child as it is for me to work with your child. Giving this gift to your child of learning to play an instrument, will be a great journey for both of us. As we give all we have within us to nurture your child through music, you will begin to see how this process helps your child become a wonderful human being.
STUDIO POLICY
I request that you make at least a one-year commitment to taking lessons. It takes time to understand the process and sometimes to see the benefits. A lesson will be rescheduled if I am unable to be at the lesson. For any other reason, I will do my best to find a satisfactory makeup lesson time, but cannot guarantee it, so please do everything you can to be at your regularly scheduled lesson.
There are two required semesters of piano lessons (summer lessons are optional) The first semester is 16 weeks (week of August 24 to week of December 14). The second semester is 19 weeks (week of January 4 to week of May 17). There are no lessons during public school spring break.
Each student will be assigned to a group class appropriate to their age and level of playing ability. Twice each month, there will be a 30 minute group class for beginners and an hour class once a month for more advanced students. The second week of the month, there is only a group class and NO private lesson. The fourth week, there will be a private lesson AND group for the beginner students. You will get the schedule for group class before the first semester begins.
